Massa Reserve and Hiking

Departure: Meet at the park entrance for a day full of natural discoveries.

Massa Reserve – Bird Watching: Accompanied by a guide specializing in ornithology and wildlife, you will begin your day with a visit to the Massa Reserve, a perfect spot for observing a wide variety of migratory birds such as flamingos, herons, white-spoonbills, and other migratory species. This will also be an opportunity to explore the local flora and the region's biodiversity.

Oued Massa Estuary: After birdwatching, you will continue your excursion with your guide to the Oued Massa estuary, where the river meets the ocean. This location offers a perfect view for photography and an opportunity to appreciate the beauty of nature and the surrounding sand dunes.

Troglodyte Houses Discovery: Late in the morning, you will visit the traditional troglodyte houses. These dwellings carved into the rock were once used by local inhabitants. You will learn how these ingenious constructions allowed their occupants to adapt to the harsh climatic conditions. It’s worth noting that these houses are now abandoned and no longer inhabited.

Location: After a morning of exploration, you will be invited to enjoy a traditional lunch at a local restaurant. You can savor typical Moroccan dishes such as tajine, couscous, and homemade bread.

Visit to the Wildlife Reserve: After lunch, head to the Souss Massa Wildlife Reserve, a protected natural site home to many animal species, such as the Addax antelope, the Dorcas gazelle, and the African ostrich. This will be an opportunity to learn more about the local wildlife and the conservation efforts aimed at preserving biodiversity in this region.
